Walking
The Eden Valley is often referred to as the secret gem for walking. So much variety of beautiful walks right from the doorstep and very close by such as Lady Anne’s Way towards Appleby, Smardale Gill Nature Reserve, Mallerstang, Tan Hill. Wild Boar and Nine Standards. Plus we are located in the midst of, hence easy access to, more popular known places like the Howgills, Swaledale, North Pennines, Teesdale and Lake District. Whether you wish to walk on rugged high fells, more gentle riverside paths, across grassy fields, along ancient railway tracks, be in solitude for hours or enjoy the company of others. With lovely cafes and tea-rooms along with places of interest to explore. We have a good library of walking books you can borrow.

Coaching
Mark has been active all his life competing and winning prizes in multiple marathons, fell-races, ultra runs, triathlons and cycle events. He also operates now as a coach and will freely share his knowledge and offer expert advice and assistance to our guests.
Wet Day Suggestions
Okay so it may occasionally rain here but that is no problem. We have spare waterproofs to borrow if you happen to have forgotten yours and are going out walking, running or cycling.
Good options for nearby non-activity places to visit and explore include Barnard Castle, Bowes Museum, Richmond, Raby Castle, Keswick and Rheged.
